Our Mentor Inducted into Security Industry Hall of Fame
In April 2020, my dad, Rodney Garner, was posthumously inducted into the Security Sales & Integration Hall of Fame. He would have been humbled and a little embarrassed if he were with us to receive this award and recognition. I am very proud of him and grateful to the security industry for recognizing his contributions during his 45-year career. A committee of industry peers selected him based on the following criteria:
Required Characteristics
- Minimum 15 years of security industry experience.
- Considered ethical and positively represents the security industry.
- Known to have achieved exceptional expertise and success in chosen security specialization.
- Known to have had a major impact in security business and/or technology.
- Known to have demonstrated strong character and leadership.
Desirable Characteristics
- Generally recognized as a pioneer, trailblazer or innovator.
- Known to have demonstrated volunteerism and humanitarianism within and/or outside the security industry.
- Known to have dedicated time, effort and/or resources to security industry organizations and causes.
- Known to have promoted industry mission of protecting lives and property.
- Known to have helped others succeed and acted as a mentor.
My dad possessed all of these, but most of all, he embodied the last characteristic. Over the past two-and-half years since his passing, I’ve had countless coworkers, industry leaders, and even customers reach out to me and share stories of how my dad mentored and helped them succeed. He was always willing to spend the time required to help someone better understand our industry. We are proud to honor him and we look forward to continuing to serve you, our customers, as he would.
